Introductory ESDM Workshop

  • The Early Start Denver Model Introductory Workshop offered through UC Davis Extension (online remote).

  • Learn about the theoretical and empirical framework, curriculum and teaching principles of the Early Start Denver Model, a developmental, behavioral and relationship-based intervention program for infants and toddlers with Autism Spectrum Disorder ages 12-60 months.

    This course is taught by Sally Rogers of the UC Davis MIND Institute and Geraldine Dawson from Duke University. This workshop is open to anyone wishing to learn more about ESDM.

  • Prior to attending the Introductory Workshop, the attendees should read Early Start Denver Model for Young Children with Autism: Promoting Language, Learning, and Engagement, by Sally Rogers and Geraldine Dawson, ISBN 9781606236314

In-Person Advanced ESDM Workshop

  • We come to you! Dr. Jennifer Epstein will travel to your location, including international travel. Please email her directly to set up a time to discuss training and travel fees and scheduling.

  • Each in-person Advanced ESDM Workshop is comprised of a 3 day training scheduled at your location. This workshop is available by application only, and each experienced autism early intervention professional will have already completed the Introductory ESDM Workshop. This workshop involves a child with autism from your setting.

    Participants will be supervised through each step of ESDM intervention including: assessment, design of teaching program and implementation of program, including data collection.

  • The workshop involves hands-on experience with children and their families in small groups of 3 to 5 trainees carefully supervised and coached by one Certified ESDM trainer. The trainer-trainee ratio in these Workshops is 1:5, and one child and family support the teaching of each group of five trainees.

    People participating at this level need to have considerable experience providing therapy for young children with autism, and they need to be currently carrying out treatment in their own settings

Remote Advanced ESDM Workshop

  • Online/Remote Workshop

  • The Remote Advanced Workshop involves 7 weekly workshop meetings of 2.5 to 3 hours in length to review ESDM theory and practice. Participants complete weekly assignments to practice implementation of ESDM. In between sessions, participants will complete weekly assignments with a child at their location and will videotape brief examples for review. Attendees receive individualized feedback within a group coaching model and share and reflect upon their experiences within a small groups of 3 to 5 participants. The workshop is available by application to professionals meeting the prerequisites.

  • The Advanced Workshop includes remote, interactive sessions where participants receive coaching from the trainer within a group format of 3 to 5 professionals. Participants will have opportunities to practice the approach while receiving direct feedback on their video submissions.

    Professionals practice implementing the full model with a child at their location, review their work with individualized coaching from the trainer, and share and reflect upon their experiences within a small groups. Space is limited to 3 to 5 participants for each workshop.

  • The Remote Advanced ESDM workshop is $2000 US dollars.
